Job summary

The grant will have as main tasks: a) coordinate the technical and scientific components of the project on microbiology area; b) prepare technical reports, scientific and contractual documents and dissemination material; c) participate and organize coordination meetings; d) coordinate the dissemination activities and management of the project; and e) participate in the supervision and formation of students research activities and technician’s.

The Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, I.P. (IPMA) opens a call, within 10 days of publication of this notice, to award one Invited Scientist Grant, in the framework of National Project SALBIV (PROMAR) - “Salubridade e classificação das zonas de produção de bivalves da região algarvia”.

We offer:

Subsidy of monthly salary of Invited Scientist grant, until the maximum amount in force and the corresponding grants from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). The contract is for 12 months, with possible extension by equal periods until the end of the project. The workplace is IPMA, I.P. – DivAV, Olhão.

Requirements:

This scholarship is intended for researchers with a Doctoral degree in Marine Sciences, Aquaculture, or similar, with professional experience (> 15 years) as independent researcher in the research field of this notice, i.e. being responsible for a research team. The researcher needs to possess advanced knowledge on planning, experimental design of bivalve microbiology assays, and fluent in Portuguese and English writing and oral communication, preferably through scientific reports, publications in indexed peer reviewed scientific journals and communications in national and international conferences.

Applications must be sent to IPMA, IPMA, Rua C – Aeroporto de Lisboa, 1779-077 Lisboa and the application must explicitly identify the full reference of the intended project and grant, accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae and diplomas. If there are not candidates of merit, the Jury may decide not to award this scholarship.
